June 2021 - We’re excited to be included in Vows Magazine for the second time! Vows is a national magazine for bridal and wedding shops, and the editors chose to feature Uptown Bride in an article about cooperative efforts with bridal shops and other businesses. We love our community and are so glad to represent Albuquerque!

From a KRQE news story, appearing on May 21 & 22, 2020:

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The pandemic hit during the busiest time for brides-to-be looking to pick out the perfect dress. Uptown Bride says it’s going beyond CDC recommendations after reopening last weekend including only allowing two brides with two guests at a time.

“We are also steaming and sanitizing all of the garments that are tried on and taking them out of rotation for a 24-hour period of time, so other brides aren’t trying on items that have been tried on prior to them,” said co-owner of Uptown Bride Karen Chavez.

The wedding dress shop is also sanitizing everything between customers. Chavez says most brides have been postponing their wedding until 2021 but some are holding out hope they can still pull off their big day late this summer or fall. She says January through the end of April is typically their busy season.

“It definitely hurt but it’s not going to take us down. We are both very, very determined individuals and very strong women. We worked really hard to get where we are now and there is no way we’re going to let this take us down,” Chavez said. Uptown Bride is by appointment only.

UPTOWN BRIDE EARNS THE KNOT BEST OF WEDDINGS, AGAIN

14th Annual Best of Weddings Awards Honor Top Wedding Vendors Across America

ALBUQUERQUE – A three-year-old business now has a second national award. Uptown Bride has been selected as a 2020 – winner of The Knot Best of Weddings, an accolade representing the highest- and most-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on The Knot, a leading wedding planning brand and app. This marks the second year in a row that the retailer, founded in 2018, has been honored with the award.

In 2020, only five percent of hundreds of thousands of wedding professionals listed on The Knot received this award. In its fourteenth year, The Knot Best of Weddings is an annual by-couples, for-couples guide to the top wedding professionals across the country. To determine the winners, The Knot analyzed user reviews across various vendor categories, including venues, musicians, florists, photographers, caterers and more, to find the highest-rated vendors of the year. These winners represent the best of the best wedding professionals that engaged couples should consider booking for their own unique wedding.

“From the day Karen (Chavez) and I opened the store, our goal has been to provide extraordinary customer service, so it’s great to be reminded that our customers agree,” said Stacy Blackwell.

Owners Blackwell and Chavez opened Uptown Bride less than a year after national bridal retailer Alfred Angelo shuttered its doors just a few hundred yards away.

“We learn from our mistakes,” Blackwell said, “but who says you can’t learn from others’ mistakes, too?”

Chavez said the layout of the store at 2201 Louisiana Blvd. NE gives customers and their stylists room to sample a variety of dresses in several different settings and lighting conditions.

“And if they want to make a celebration out of it, we have an even larger area set aside to accommodate half a dozen or more in one group,” Chavez said. “We can arrange snacks and other goodies to make the day as much fun for the wedding party as for the bride.”

Uptown Bride’s latest offerings include prom wear and formals, as well as tux rentals.

The Knot has inspired 25 million couples to plan a wedding that’s uniquely theirs. With a history of providing high-quality content and inspiration, The Knot helps couples to connect with and book wedding professionals. On The Knot Marketplace, couples can research hundreds of thousands of local wedding professionals across the country. The Knot Best of Weddings is designed to give couples confidence to find and book the best-reviewed local vendors.

Wedding professionals who win The Knot Best of Weddings are members of WeddingPro, the leading B2B wedding brand. As the largest marketplace and community for wedding professionals, WeddingPro connects businesses with more than 13 million visitors per month who are planning weddings on The Knot and WeddingWire, as well as with hundreds of thousands of industry pros. Through its online marketplaces, educational programs and community-building events, WeddingPro works to help wedding professionals build relationships with couples and pros that grow their businesses.
