Wedding Veils

Veils have evolved in purpose from ancient Greece, where they believed they were protecting a bride from evil spirits. In the Medieval times, it was used to show her purity and chastity. It was also used in arranged marriages to hide her identity and show her innocence until the wedding itself. Veils were also used to keep from risking the bad luck that could happen if the groom sees her before the wedding.

Now, it's used for a fashion accessory and is used by photographers to take dramatic photos.

And there are several ways you can use it after the wedding, whether to cover a baby’s crib or used to show the unity of the two families at the reception.

There are several types of veils from birdcage, which are short and extend just below the chin, to Cathedral length, which are 120-144". Picking the right one depends on the style of wedding, location and your dress.

We have plenty for you to  try on and see what look you love!

Shopping at Uptown Bride was an amazing experience. The interior is absolutely beautiful, so much that I was almost worried I wouldn’t find anything in my budget, but Jazzmin listened to what I wanted and found several dresses that I loved while still in budget. Even though I loved the first three dresses she brought, I never felt rushed and Jazzmin had me try several more dresses with different styles so I could be sure about my choice. When I had a hard time deciding at the end, Jazzmin was nothing but patient and helpful, asking thoughtful questions to help make the decision. I even got to “walk down the aisle” with a veil and bouquet to see if the dress felt right. The entire experience was so much fun, I would recommend every bride to shop here!!

Bridal head pieces

Bridal head pieces finish the look of your gown. It’s been said that having this finishing touch can make you feel more special and more like a bride.

Head pieces can be made from flowers or jewels or metal designs. Getting one to complement your dress and the tone of your wedding helps make your whole look.

Do you want your hair up? Curled, straightened or flowing? Be sure to talk over ideas with your hair stylist and practice what it'll look like before your wedding day. Having your hair take longer than you expected is the No. 1 reason brides are late to the wedding, according to a recent survey.

If you already have a clear idea of how you want your hair, go ahead and do a rough version of that when you come in to chose your dress. Put it in a messy bun, if that’s what you’d like to have refined later. Also, if you already have a head piece you know you want to wear, bring it in for the fitting. That way you can see that you’re getting the look you’ve been wanting.

Head pieces also can go well with veils, complementing each other. But be sure you try them together. Or you can wear the veil during the ceremony and then switch out to the head piece for the reception. Whatever works with your style, budget and to mark the specialness of the day for you.

Bridal Undergarments

Come on. Let’s get real. We’ve all seen untouched photos of us with a bulge here or there. It is unflattering and self defeating, to say the least.

But with the right undergarments, ones that are specifically made for wedding dresses and built to stay put for hours, that won’t happen. You’ll be able to dance and move and not worry.

Besides, your photographers will thank you so that they’ll be able to share a lot more photos of you - or not have to touch them up after they’re taken. You’ll look great from any angle or in any position.

Undergarments play an important role in helping your dress fit well too and can mean less in alterations, something that could save your budget. That’s another reason why working with an experienced stylist can help you look better than you might have thought! Our team knows what to put under the dress, as well as they know how to fit you in the dress itself.

We can order undergarments that work with any dress to accentuate what the designer was envisioning for that gown. They will keep you feeling secure.

We'll help you find what works best for you and your wedding dress.

Jazzmin is a phenomenal stylist! She was so patient in dealing with my inconsistent requests and was so mindful of my budget and keeping under it. I was never pushed in one direction or another. I will 1000% recommend Uptown Bride every single day. Thank you for helping me find my special dress! ♥️

Wedding garters are one of the oldest of the wedding traditions, and the tradition dates back to the Dark Ages.

Then it was considered to be good luck to have a piece of the bride’s clothing. To keep guests from getting over zealous in their determination to be the lucky one, the garter began to be tossed into the crowd and whoever got it was given the good luck.

Garters were actually worn by men and women to hold up socks. They moved up the leg of women as dresses hemlines got shorter. In the 1960s and the need for garters disappeared, but the wedding tradition remained. The garter because am heirloom in some cases.

Today, garters can be something for the groom. It can be his team’s colors or show off colors or patters of something else that he loves. It can be irreverent or classy, sexy or goofy.

The tradition of tossing it to unmarried men at the reception remains, although some stopped with the public reveal and saved it only for the groom to be seen after the wedding.

Often times, brides chose to get two garters - one to give the groom and one to throw to keep the tradition alive.
